Before we can understand where we might be going, we have to know where we are. Jonathan cuts through a lot of the economic noise and considers the important things in markets and economies that deserve our attention right now. If there is one thing to keep in mind as volatility inevitably returns… corporate earnings, ultimately, drive stock prices. The major issue creating questions for companies and their earnings right now have everything to do with escalating tariffs and the fear of a “trade-war.”

Jonathan does NOT expect the next recession / market correction to look like the last ones. First, there are few to no indicators calling for recession. Second, the average market decline post WWII and pre dot.com was only 25%. If and when that comes, we should be able to manage through it with relative ease.
